System Requirements

openpilot is developed and tested on Ubuntu 24.04 with modern hardware, which is the primary development target aside from the supported embedded hardware.

Most of openpilot should work natively on macOS. On Windows you can use WSL2 for a nearly native Ubuntu experience with some exceptions. Running natively on any other system is not currently recommended and will likely require modifications.

If you want to run the actual model during development you will also need a GPU with openCL support. Nvidia is used for development and is known to work provided the CUDA and CUDNN drivers are installed prior to setup.

Hardware

Processors manufactured prior to 2018 are unable to run the driving model without modification of the Acados dependency.
